NTT DATA, a global leader in IT and digital business services, has announced an expansion of its partnership with Google Cloud to accelerate the adoption of generative AI solutions and cloud-based data analytics across the Asia Pacific (APAC) region.
By combining Google Cloud’s AI capabilities, cloud services, and data analytics with NTT DATA’s deep understanding of large enterprises, this partnership aims to help businesses innovate and streamline operations. The goal is to offer tailored cloud solutions powered by AI that are customized for different industries.
John Lombard, CEO of NTT DATA APAC, highlighted that this expanded partnership is about more than just adopting new technologies—it’s about reshaping business possibilities in the AI era. He added that their collaboration with Google Cloud is expected to significantly grow the cloud business in APAC, projecting a tenfold increase over the next three years.
According to Gartner, global spending on public cloud services is set to hit USD $679 billion in 2024 and exceed $1 trillion by 2027, driven in part by the rise of generative AI.
Karan Bajwa, Vice President of Google Cloud in APAC, stressed the importance of customer trust in the digital transformation journey. He noted that NTT DATA’s extensive portfolio and deep understanding of the evolving needs of businesses in the region align perfectly with Google Cloud’s leadership in AI and innovative solutions.
To support this initiative, NTT DATA has established a dedicated Google Cloud Business Unit, which will focus on developing collaborative solutions in areas such as generative AI, data analytics, cybersecurity, modern infrastructure, applications, and SAP services on the Google Cloud Platform (GCP). This unit aims to provide businesses with the support they need to thrive in the digital era.
Charlie Li, Senior Executive Vice President and Global Head of Cloud and Security Services at NTT DATA, emphasized the strategic importance of this partnership. He believes the expanded collaboration will provide innovative solutions to address the industry-specific challenges faced by their clients.
For example, a major retailer using NTT DATA’s technologies and Google’s data analytics saw a 22% increase in digital inquiries and an 85% rise in occupancy, according to a joint press release.
Li further stated that NTT DATA and Google Cloud are positioned to accelerate their clients’ digital modernization, particularly in areas like cloud computing, generative AI, and cybersecurity. This progress will be driven by combining NTT DATA’s broad transformation expertise with Google Cloud’s cutting-edge technologies.
The expanded partnership will also benefit NTT DATA’s internal team through advanced certification and training programs. The company aims to certify at least 1,000 more professionals in the APAC region, upskilling engineers and hiring sales, pre-sales, and delivery professionals who specialize in Google Cloud solutions.
