Why Visit Agra
When Agra is mentioned, most people think of the Taj Mahal, the world’s most beautiful building. Though Agra itself may not match the Taj’s beauty, it remains a key stop on any Indian itinerary and part of the Golden Triangle. Navigating through the station and the streets around the Taj Mahal is relatively hassle-free. Despite warnings, Agra wasn’t as unpleasant as expected, perhaps due to acclimatization to India.
Many visitors head straight for the Taj Mahal, but Agra offers much more. It can be visited on a day trip from Delhi, either by a quick train (1 hr 40 mins) or a 3-4 hour drive. However, a rushed visit misses other sights and the breathtaking sunrise over the Taj.
Agra is the only city with three UNESCO World Heritage Monuments, deserving more than a quick day trip. A three-day visit is recommended.

Taj Mahal: India’s most famous landmark and one of the Seven Wonders of the World, built in 1630 by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan for his wife Mumtaz Mahal. It’s best viewed at sunrise.
