In the winter, visitors can enjoy ten miles of cross-country skiing and thrilling rides on the Blackwater Falls Sled Run. The sled run, the longest on the East Coast, offers over a quarter-mile of fresh mountain snow. Ride the magic carpet up and glide through the cozy woodland paths for an exhilarating experience!
Blackwater Falls is a 57-foot high waterfall, one of West Virginia’s most photographed spots. You can view the falls from both the west and east sides. The east side is accessible via an easy trail with several platforms for parking and resting. The west side offers a closer view from the boardwalk.
Besides Blackwater Falls, the park features other popular photo spots. Elakala Falls, surrounded by forest, can be reached by a trail behind Blackwater Lodge. There are two sets of falls to admire. Pendleton Point Overlook offers a unique opportunity to see mountains, rivers, and forests all at once. Lindy Point provides excellent views of the southern part of Blackwater Canyon. Wear sturdy waterproof shoes for a more comfortable hike!
