DIY Transformation: Small Bookshelf Makeover

Jun 21, 2023

Personally, I believe that while creating a modern and stylish space, the touch of revamped and refurbished furniture adds a more artistic feel. After all, if I’m going to run an art space, why not be a bit clever with the décor and furniture?

Keep in mind, if you plan to do this, you’ll sacrifice quite a few brushes, so make sure to have some extras on hand. Dry brushing isn’t difficult. You just need to ensure that there’s not too much paint on the brush, otherwise, the “messy” effect won’t happen.

I also added some grey paint to the sides of the shelf. I didn’t have any paint on hand, so I mixed some leftover blackboard wall paint. I love how it turned out.

2. I wanted some patterns but didn’t want to overdo it. So, I used a rubber stamp with small dots and stamped a pretty turquoise color on the sides.

3. The edges of the shelf got the same turquoise color with a triangular pattern. I love it! Very chic, with a bit of a typo design.

4. Finally, I used white acrylic paint to write “heart” on the shelf, with a swirl pattern just for fun!

Moving to a larger space made this possible. I enjoy furniture makeovers so much that I’m already thinking about what to do next! Stay tuned for more projects.
