Nokia has introduced five new third-party IoT applications for its MX Industrial Edge platform, expanding its industrial IoT capabilities in areas such as asset tracking, positioning, indoor navigation, and worker safety.
These new applications take advantage of the MX Industrial Edge’s low latency, reliable connectivity, and embedded intelligence to streamline industrial operations. By deploying them at the edge, closer to industrial assets and workers, Nokia aims to address common issues like inefficient asset use and poor inventory management.
Two of the new applications are focused on real-time tracking and positioning of industrial assets using technologies like RFID and visual positioning systems. Nordic ID provides a full RFID solution to digitally track supply chain assets, while svarmony’s visual positioning app helps workers navigate complex environments. A third app from HERE offers precise outdoor GPS tracking for both vehicles and personnel.
In terms of worker safety, Nokia has teamed up with Portalify and Secapp to create smart solutions for lone worker situations and emergency response. Portalify’s SmartView app uses various positioning technologies to locate workers and share their locations with response teams during alerts. Secapp, on the other hand, provides secure messaging and video chat services designed for managing critical incidents.
Nokia is offering these IoT applications as cloud-based services on MX Industrial Edge, making it easier for industrial enterprises to deploy and manage them, helping them get more value from their IoT data.
By combining these new applications with the computing power and wireless connectivity of the edge platform, Nokia is introducing powerful new IoT use cases for customers in manufacturing, logistics, and other operational sectors.
As digital transformation continues to speed up across industries, organizations are looking for a variety of IoT applications to tackle their most pressing challenges. These latest additions to Nokia’s Industrial Application Catalog harness the power of the intelligent edge to improve efficiency, enhance safety, and strengthen emergency preparedness for industrial workers.
